Guest guest
Hello everyone - 2 questions on which I'd be grateful for advice: BHANDAS - As someone who tends to carry tension in his body, I've always had a problem in fully releasing bhanda contractions of the larger muscular groups. So, I finish a session feeling more tension and irritability than was the case before I started. This seems to defeat the aim of better energy flows. Does anyone have tips for correcting this problem? NAVIGATING ENERGY FLOWS - In your experience, is it more productive to focus on the starting point eg. muludhara chakra, then immediately the desired chakra finish point and visualise their connectedness OR just begin with the start point, picture/magnify its pool of energy, then ride it like a jockey rides a horse to its destination, at which point the energy's arrival becomes the new focus point OR is it better still, to visualise a continuing circular sweep of energy without the use of start and stop points? Many thanks - .
Guest guest
I feel your confusion, So as you begin to finish a bhanda, hold the position without the tension. inhaling the air. As you are not breathing during the hold of the lock now you do breath into the tension infusing that position. So as you come out of the mahabhanda for instance, you can shut down everything at once, relax, breathe, and then go back and breathe into the areas of tension. i.e the perineum, the throat, the eyes, the tongue, and so forth. Place your awareness on the area and breathe into that area. If the Bhandas are not a form you are receiving a benefit from then cease doing them but give them a few tries at least. Also you may find benefit from the Kechari position with the tongue - chrism <...> wrote: Hello everyone - 2 questions on which I'd be grateful for advice: BHANDAS - As someone who tends to carry tension in his body, I've always had a problem in fully releasing bhanda contractions of the larger muscular groups. Guest guest
Hi John, Bandhas are a pretty advanced and very powerful yoga technique. Basically, they require a fairly in-depth awareness & control of your body and breath, plus the ability not just to engage your muscles, but also to release (and surrender) completely while staying focused. If you already have a good hatha yoga experience under your belt, you can follow Chris' advice, and the bandhas will make a big difference. If you are not into hatha yoga yet, perhaps you may want to look into it. If tension is a problem for you, hatha yoga will definitely help.
