Guest guest
I just received a diagnosis of thyroid cancer yesterday (I am otherwise a very healthy 27 year old). I was just wondering if any of you have had experience dealing with this sort of thing. I will have surgery to remove my thyroid in a few weeks. Does anyone have any nutrition tips for me? I also will have to wean my 2 1/2 year old boy within three weeks. I have to recieve radioactive iodine therapy, and this is something that lingers in the milk, very harmful, for weeks. This is the worse news to me - he is in love with his momma milk. What am I going to do? It's very hard because he doesn't talk yet, and although he understands what I'm saying, I believe, it's just not going to be easy. Because of his lack of speech (he's in speech therapy), he is growing very frustrated and throwing more fits. The breastfeeding was really helping us get through this. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Guest guest
La Leche League and Dr. Jack Newman. Those are the 2 best sources of breastfeeding information in my life. Newman has a site (you'll find it with a search) and he answers questions within 24 hours.
