(Source: Cygnus Group) Set an example for family and friends and wrap with reused paper and nonpaper materials. Here are some ideas for alternative wrapping paper: • Old posters and maps • Old sheet music • Wallpaper scraps • Fabric scraps • Colorful ads or photos torn out of magazines and catalogs • Reclaimed holiday wrap from previous years http://www.greenmatters.com
Guest guest
I felt a little self-conscious doing this last year, but my family and friends LOVED it...they thought it was sort of a fashion statement... I wrapped gifts with cut up brown paper bags, and tied them with red, green or gold ribbons. They were beautiful! Guest guest
You can also have the kids paint the bags and throw some glitter on them. They turn out wonderfully! Lucy " Karen L. My four kids and I just spent a few days cutting and decorating paper bags to use as wrapping paper! And I think they're beautiful too (although some of my family may think we're nutty but thats nothing new.) Katie
Guest guest
I originally started doing this because I had no money for wrapping paper, but my whole family really liked it. It was quite a conversation starter! Of course they all said, " oh yes, we should all be doing that. It's really great! " and then the next year, they were still using the same old gold foil, but who knows. I hope it catches on! Last year I had my son draw on lunch bags in green and red markers... This year I'm going making cloth bags which can actually be part of the gift! ~Amelia Karen L. When I give a baby shower or new baby gift I buy a blanket and use it as the wrapping paper. Katie
