Guest guest
I'm 7 months along now, but before I realized I was pregnant I was having all kinds of terrible cravings. Not only was I craving cheeseburgers and tuna fish sandwiches, but I also found myself longing for fast food french fries, donuts and soda. I hadn't had soda in a long time, but I ended up asking my hubby for a sip of his Coke one day. Blech! Liquid sugar! I can't figure out how I ever drank the stuff to begin with. Anyways, after discovering that I was pregnant, I upped my protein and overall caloric intake and the cravings pretty much stopped. So, I guess sometimes the cravings can be about something that you need, but cravings for meat don't necessarily indicate a need for meat. Maria Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Guest guest
I think that cravings rear an ugly head when you are lacking something in your diet, sometimes but not always what you are craving -- when I eat nuts, olives, avocados and other " fatty " foods regularly, I don't crave sweets or drown my veggies in butter. During my last pregnancy, I craved sweet potatoes and spinach, and ate both at least 2ce a week, as well as broccoli, and would cook huge portions of it 2 or 3 times a week -- guess what, I was slightly anemic and needed more iron. Craving meat might be a signal that your body wants something more " solid " , if you are a salad type of person, or possibly more protein or iron. Guest guest
Yes, cravings for sugar are often a sign of protein deficiency in your diet. Sandra
Guest guest
Hi, I am new to this group, but thought I'd add my .02. Avocados helped me alot during my pregnancy. I swear, I almost had them everyday. I also added a little bit of protien powder to some soy milk in the morning, for a little more protien. I really helped to keep cravings away. Guest guest
I bet that would help, too, if I wasn't allergic to it. Something good to keep in mind for other people, thanks!
