Guest guest Posted February 3, 2003 Report Share Posted February 3, 2003 Has anyone had a child with chronic mastoiditis? How serious is this? What procedure was done by the doctor? My 17 month old had a CT scan on Friday because she fell and we thought she had a concusion. Fortunately her skull is fine. However, the CT scan revealed a chronic mastoiditis. The MD in the ER was vague with information. The information I have found on-line indicates it can be caused by a perpherated ear drum or chronic ear infections. What I am reading sounds serious. She hasn't had chronic ear infections and at her 15 month appointment there was no indication from our pediatrician that anything was wrong with her ears.
