Guest guest
Try nut butters and shakes, also avocados, flax seed powders are great for that. Peace, Laura
Guest guest
An avocado sandwich is great. Also, smash up avocado and use it a dip with chips or spread on crackers. Any of the nut butters work well too. Peanut butter and bananas rolled up whole wheat tortilla are delicious. You can also make or buy some type of trail mix cookies. They tend to have lots of nuts and seeds along with some dried fruits. -- Tracy
Guest guest
Mixed nuts go over well with my 4 yo so does apples with peanut butter or almond butter for dipping. Bananas are always popular and raisins mixed with dry cereal is good for on the go. Hope these help, good luck. Guest guest
Have you tried nut butters? We do a lot of soynut butter with my 18 month old (haven't tried other nut butters yet). It has about 170 calories in 2 tablespoons and, depending on which variety you use, 7 to 11 grams of protein too. It goes great with crackers or bread. With an older child it would go well with veggies like celery too. I think a little box of raisins has about 130 calories. Do you do dairy? If yes yogurt and tapioca or rice pudding are also great. Good luck Joann --- Carmen Crenshaw-Hovey <crenhov4 wrote: > Anyone have some good suggestions for some high > calorie snacks for my almost > 4 year old who is a very picky eater and quite > small? > > Thanks in advance:-) > > Carmen near Zurich > > > Send Flowers for Valentine's Day
Guest guest
Earth Balance Margarine, nut butter and banana slices on sprouted bread. You can throw some strawberries in there too. Black olives..my boys love to put there fingers in the holes until all their fingertips are covered and then eat them off. Make a spread out of olives and mayo or nayo. Spread on your favorite bread. Vegan meat slices with veggie cheese rolled up over a pickle slice. Fruit salad: chopped fruit, coconut, chopped walnuts all mixed up with soy yougurt for a dressing. Could sprinkle with wheat germ or ground flaxseed. Smoothies made with bananas, whole fat soy milk, your favorite fruit or sweetner, you can also add tofu and avocadoes. I know the avocado sounds wierd, but it really goes well in a smoothie and adds extra calories for little ones. Homemade granola or trail mix. It's great to have a big glass jar that you dump stuff into. You can just pick up a bunch of different stuff from the bulk bins at the health food store. Whenever it gets low just pick up a few more things to throw in there. Raw oats or granola, coconut, carob or chocolate, non-sulphered fruit, chocolate covered fruit..yummy there are so many options. You can also use this for a quick cereal in the morning =) Heather Send Flowers for Valentine's Day
