Guest guest
Hi Stephanie, It's Valerie, and I was the one who recommended John Robbins' Food Revolution and Diet for a New America (DFANA). Glad you liked it! I can't say enough about the books. To see an unsolicited excerpt of how many lives he has changed for the better, just look at the endless reader reviews on amazon.com posted by readers. I was a meat-eater (and proud of it! Imagine!) when I read just a few pages of DFANA 12 years ago, and I couldn't put it down. It had the same effect on a boyfriend (the only guy I ever dated who dared to read DFANA in its entirety) and my father. If you know of a staunch meat-eater, casually toss them this book and DOUBLE-DARE them to read it. I bet either they start eating vegetarian, or they will have to put the book down (cowards! ha ha). If you want to take a free peek at the message of Earthsave and John Robbins, check out this link where you can read chapter one of the Food Revolution. I have nothing to gain in spreading his message (meaning John Robbins--goodness I guess I sound like a disciple!). We all just want to give our children a better planet. http://www.foodrevolution.org/food_revolution.htm Earth be with you! I got it and cannot put it down! I thought I knew a lot about the health benefits of a plant based diet, factory farming and the inhumane conditions under which farm animals suffer but this book has filled in all the blanks. I am going to be giving a copy to everyone I care about. I had heard of Diet for a New America but never gave it a second thought because I mistakenly thought it was a diet book. John Robbins puts everything together so well. Thank you for the recommendation and if it wasn't you then go out and get this book and thank you to whomever it was. Guest guest
Veggie Val, thank you so much. I've been veggie for almost 12 years and don't even know where to begin when people ask me about why I eat veggie, organic, whole foods. Now I know where to begin. Like I said before, I am going to give a copy of Food Revolution to everyone I care about, my open minded father with hypertension, my skeptical father-in-law who is at least 50 pounds over weight and plauged with health problems,my sister who feeds her beautiful sons junk and one is asmatic etc. etc. etc. Everything I've been wanting to say (and more) is in this book. I'm almost done reading it I still can't put it down and the house is a mess to prove it;) With Gratitude Stephanie Quoting StarryValentine <starryv2003: Hi Stephanie, > > It's Valerie, and I was the one who recommended John Robbins' Food Revolution > and Diet for a New America (DFANA). Guest guest
I have not read this book, but definitely will pick it up. I wouldn't pass it on to any of my family members who could use it, however, as I know they would never read it. - joynsen Monday, February 24, 2003 12:04 PM Re: Re: Cannot put it down, indeed!
