Guest guest
I just noticed that my 23 month old daughter has discolored teeth near the gumline. I will be calling the pediatrician Monday, but I was wondering if any of you have experienced a similar dilemma? She drinks a lot of chocolate soy milk, and I also give her a liquid vitamin, both of which I suspect. She has not yet been to a dentist as my pediatrician recommended that we wait until she is 2 years of age. Thank you, Robin A. _______________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. Guest guest
When my daughter's bottom teeth first came in they looked a bit discolored near the gumline too. But now grown all the way in, her teeth are very white. I also wondered about this and am interested in what others may have to say. This just seemed to occur with her bottom teeth though. Guest guest
Many of my son's teeth became discolored until it was clear they were slowly decaying. This began when he was around 15-18 months, and finally when he was about 25 months, he had to have MAJOR dental work done. I don't know what caused all of this for sure. I would definitely recommend taking care of the problem ASAP because the dental saga we went through was awful for him and us. I wouldn't have waited for them to get past the discoloring stage, if I had it to do over again.
Guest guest
Thank you for your responses. I spoke to my daughter's pediatrician and she actually described the discolorations to me over the phone! She said it is common and it is caused by the liquid vitamin (Poly-Vi-Sol) that my daughter has been taking since she was weened. Why I was not informed of this possibility before, I do not know. There is no warning label either. I was discussing this with a colleague and she showed me the discolorations on her permanent teeth from the chewable vitamin she took as a child. I am very upset about this but hope that this information is helpful to others. ~Robin A. _______________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
