Guest guest
Update: Wednesday was his first day, and so I went to visit/check-up on him/them on my lunch break. Well I got to talk to the teacher, instead of the director. It was nap time, they had already had lunch. She told me he only ate french fries and wouldn't eat his sandwich. I asked her what kind of sandwich it was, and she said ham & cheese. Ugh! (It was supposed to be spaghetti & meatballs, and they were just going to put tomatoes on the pasta w/ no meatballs- so I thought I had it all arranged)I told the teacher that's why, he's a vegetarian, which she hadn't been told! She said he had told her he just wanted a cheese sandwich (which made me proud), so the teacher said it would be no problem from now on, she has another vegetarian boy in her class. (I am wondering now if they'll give me the phone # of that boys mom so I can call and ask her how things go) So I guess I should have spoken with the teacher instead of the director. Today is supposed to be mac & cheese. He is definitely not eating as healthy as I would feed him, but as long as he doesn't get any meat, I guess it's ok. My son has started school, I want to be able to be excited, and worry about him learning and sociallizing, but all I can worry about his food. Any more advice is welcome, Danielle www.angelfire.com/fl/VegetariansHome/Danielle.html > I just assumed I could pack his lunch to control what he eats, but they > discourage that. The director said right now they only have 1 > vegetarian, and he eats the cafeteria meals with the meat taken > out. She said she knows that's not a good balanced meal, and they > will be acommadating if I tell her things to add to the menu. She > seems accomadating, but I don't know that someone else won't just serve > him like the other kids. How have you handled this?
