Why are dried fruits high in iron when the same fresh fruits aren't? Thanks, Marvelyn

I thought oxalic acid is only a concern when it comes to calcium absorption. Does it interfere with iron absorption as well?
Guest guest
Hey...I haven't been very active. I have 7 more weeks of working full-time, and then I'm staying home with the baby for 4 to 5 years. We're trying for a February/March baby. David just turned a year old... Anyway, I hope to be more active now...I wanted to tell you that I gave David blackstrap molasses tea today and he LOVED it. I read about it in my veggie baby book. I didn't think he'd like it, but I'm glad he did because it's a great source of iron. Guest guest
Jan- nice to meet you, too. I checked out your site; David is adorable!! Hopefully I will have my site up soon so that you can see Solstice and Ryan. Ry will be 8 months on Easter-he is a little elfin boy with blue, blue eyes and reddish blonde curly floofs on top of his head. Anyway, I wanted to know the name and author of your veg baby book- looking for a good one., Love, Natalie Joy & her boys Jan [mommy76] Monday, April 14, 2003 7:07 PM Re: Re: iron issues Hey...I haven't been very active. Why > are dried fruits high in iron when the same fresh fruits aren't? I'd guess that the concentration increases as water decreases, so portion size changes - a " serving " of fresh apricot may be one piece, while a serving of dried apricots may be several, thus, more iron. ~Doh
Guest guest
I searched for it online so you could see the cover: http://www.vegan.com/bookstore/all_books/52360.htm She is supposed to be the GURU when it comes to veggie babies. Guest guest
I just did what the author of the veggie baby book suggested. I mixed one tablespoon with hot water and then let it cool off. She said some babies don't like it, but David does!
