Guest guest
Ellen: I missed responding to you to also, even though I thought of a response -- doesn't count since you can't read my mind. As you know, I'm in Atlanta too, so our power was out all day yesterday too. Glad to hear yours was restored. Anyway -- the low carb thing -- I still need to learn more about this. However, I thought I would tell you about a couple of books. One is a new one--not yet released-- from Barry Sears, who wrote the original " Zone " books & cookbooks. I came across it on the Barnes & Noble website, and it was titled " Vegetarian Zone " . When I looked again, that title was missing, but there was one (still yet to be released) called " Soy Zone " . I guess, perhaps, he just decided to retitle the book. Another book, which I believe is a low-carb program, which I also don't know much about is " The Schwarzbein Principle Vegetarian Cookbook " by Dr. Diana Schwarzbein. When reading the reviews on Amazon, most people praised the book, but one person said that both his and his wife's cholesterol levels skyrocketed while on the diet. She has other books, one explaining the diet program, and another non-veg cookbook. Sounds like both of these are ideas you might want to check into further. Good luck and take care! Karen As a side note, this week's cookbook of the week, Moosewood Restaurant Daily Special, has in the back listings of recipes under particular categories -- low fat, vegan, etc., and includes a listing for low-carb recipes. Of course, you can't eat just soup, but it's a start! ha ha!
