Guest guest
Hi, From what I have gathered through the internet and talks to other people, the grains, pasta etc have the grubs in them *before* you buy them. Some grains have already weavil eggs in them when they are harvested and they just wait for the right conditions to hatch... So, it's best to freeze the pasta and other flour products when you bring them home, just to kill the eggs and immature thingammies. Freeze them for 2 days and defrost them slowly in the fridge to avoid too much humidity in the bag. They can then be stored in a tight container. I usually add a couple of bay leaves. It's an old trick and it seems to work. BTW, I also had grubs in shiitake mushrooms and, recently, in ground cumin!! All the best, Rose-Marie
