Guest guest Posted February 6, 2000 Report Share Posted February 6, 2000 Combine in a 2 qt pan or bowl: 2 cups TVP chunks 2 cups boiling water 2 tbsp ketchup Let stand for 10 mins. Cover tightly and microwave on medium for 10 mins or simmer on top of stove for 20 minutes, adding more liquid if needed. Mix in a small pan: 1/3 cup of ketchup 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 tbsp dark sesame oil 2 tbsp tamari 2 tsp 5 spice powder (recipe below) Heat sauce, adding any liquid from the chunks. Stir well and when sauce is boiling, mix with the chunks. Let marinate 30 minutes or more. Before serving, bake in the marinade covered dish in a microwave on medium power about 5 minutes, stirring once. Or bake at 350 about 15 minutes until chunks and sauce are hot. Serve with toothpicks. 5 spice powder: 1 tsp ground fennel, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground star anise, 1/2 tsp ground cloves and 1/4 tsp of Szechuan or cayenne pepper. calories 53, protein 4, carbs 7, fat 2 -- | / \(!!)
