Guest guest
Another great site to read about hoaxes is: http://www.hoaxkill.com/index2.html Not only can you learn a lot, but some of them are just darned funny. I second Christine - the best warning you can send out is one to remind people to check on the virus BEFORE they warn all their friends. The most recent virus " warning " I've received is the one about " It Takes Guts to Say 'Jesus', " and I'm pretty tired of being warned about it. It's a hoax, and an old one at that. Take viruses very seriously, but do a little bit of checking before you send it out. I've received the " Jesus " one from religious personnel who didn't check it out, which just made it more believable to the recipients. And if you do figure out you've got a real virus warning, notify you system administrator ASAP. He/she probably knows about it, but better safe than sorry (unless they're like at my last place of work, where they told me that the Melissa virus wouldn't affect the system but then we couldn't receive mail for two days because the system was clogged). The sites Christine listed (in case you were tempted to delete them): http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html . http://urbanlegends.about.com/culture/urbanlegends/msubvir.htm or http://urbanlegends.about.com/culture/urbanlegends/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?si te=http://kumite.com/myths/myths/%23a2z Now back to your regularly scheduled recipes...
