Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

-------- ------------ --------------------------------

2 teaspoons olive oil

1/2 cup onion -- cut vertically into think slivers

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1 28 oz can chopped tomatoes -- undrained

1 8 oz can tomato sauce -- (salt-free or regular)

1 cup water

2 teaspoons dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon pepper

8 ounces elbow macaroni -- uncooked

Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat (a nonstick pan is

essential to keep pasta from sticking). Add onion and mushrooms. Cook,

stirring frequently, 3 to 5 minutes, until tender.

Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, and spices to skillet. When mixture

boils, stir in macaroni. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook 20

minutes. Stir mixture every 4 to 5 minutes while cooking.
