Vegan: No meat (this also includes fish), dairy, eggs or honey (although this

last is controversial in some circles).

Lacto: Dairy

Ovo: Egg

Ovo-Lacto: Containing egg & dairy products. Also abbreviated O-L in many

recipes.

 

Vegetarian Worcestershire sauce is more common than you may realize. Many

chain supermarkets (eg. Fry's) carry their own store brand which does not

contain anchovies. There is also an anchovy-free brand called " Alanna " in some

supermarkets. Health food stores also carry vegetarian Worcestershire sauces,

but these can be expensive. The best thing to do is become an avid

label-reader when shopping.
