German Rice Pudding

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1/2 cup regular rice

2 cups boiling water

3 cups milk

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

Ground cinnamon

 

Add rice to boiling water in 2-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil again;

reduce heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until all the water is absorbed.

Stir in milk. Simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add sugar and

salt; continue cooking 20 more minutes or until mixture is creamy. Stir in

vanilla. Serve warm, sprinkled with cinnamon.
