Guest guest Posted March 10, 2000 Report Share Posted March 10, 2000 * Exported from MasterCook * Barbecued Tofu Recipe By :The Soy Gourmet - Robin Robertson Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 tablespoons safflower oil 1/2 cup minced onion 1 cup tomato sauce 2 tablespoons brown suger OR honey 2 tablespoons cider vinegar 1 tablespoon prepared mustard 1 tablespoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce 1/8 teaspoon cayenne 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 pound firm tofu -- cut into 1/2-inch slices Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat, add the onion, cover, and cook 5 minutes or until the onion is soft. Add the remaining ingredients, except tofu, to the saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring. Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Adjust seasonings. Meanwhile, heat the remaining oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu slices and cook until golden brown, turning once, about 2 minutes per side.
