Guest guest
Is there a vegan substitute for half & half? (To be used in coffee or maybe for cooking?) Thanks, Karen
Guest guest
Karen: I'm not really sure about this, *but*, a friend of mine loves Vitasoy Original soymilk for things that require a " richer " sort of " milk " (she makes vegan ice cream with it, etc.). It seems that this should also work pretty well as a half & half substitute. Another richer sort of soy milk is Soyagen, which is a powder you reconstitute with water. It too is richer than other soy milks. Also, since you reconstitute it yourself, you could, perhaps, add less water for an even richer milk. I've only seen Soyagen at the SDA store I go to. They might sell it elsewhere, but that's the only place around here I've ever seen it. Finally, I haven't seen it at stores here yet, but saw in a magazine that " Silk " (the soy milks sold refrigerated) has a soy coffee creamer. Just some ideas. Guest guest
I saw an add for " silk " coffee creamer in veg times - I think February or march's issue.. But I've yet to see it in the stores.. " Silk " is the brand name- they have other soy milk flavors- usually in the milk section-in milk cartons- not in the boxes like soy dream & eden soy.. It's a good idea- cuz the soy milk really doesn't mix well with coffee- has anyone tried the health food store?
