Guest guest
Dear Sandy, Peter and group - << Yes...Krushna and Sach do a TERRIFIC job in translating this wonderful system to us - The English language IS very ambiguous which makes both learning and explaining difficult...I mean it is hard enough when you are born into the english language to understand some of the complexities that exist - couple THAT with the study (and translation) of a deep and complex subject, such as jyotish, and there are bound to be confusions!!! But we're doing OK here...;-) >> I totally agree here. The English Language is one of the hardest languages to learn because of all the double meanings and phrasings that the language is composed of. And thanks Sandy, for the high points to remember about the Secondary Upacahayas. I will put these reminders in a separate notebook similar to what we have in our other group and post it to the site shortly. We can then use it to update good points to remember as we go along. Thanks again, Sandy! Donna
Guest guest
Dear Peter and List Members, Yes...Krushna and Sach do a TERRIFIC job in translating this wonderful system to us - The English language IS very ambiguous which makes both learning and explaining difficult...I mean it is hard enough when you are born into the english language to understand some of the complexities that exist - couple THAT with the study (and translation) of a deep and complex subject, such as jyotish, and there are bound to be confusions!!! But we're doing OK here...;-) Anyway, here is what I am (fairly) ;-) clear on... pertaining to the role of the Main (A,B, & C) and Secondary (D & E) Upachaya Lords: 1. Secondary Upachaya Lords will give NO malefic effects when having sight on (aspecting) Primary Upachaya houses A, B, and C, but will contribute benefically. 2. Secondary Upachaya Lords will also give NO malefic effects when having sight on (aspecting) other planets in the chart, but will contribute benefically. 3. Secondary Upachaya Lords are always able to contribute benefic effects and never able to contribute malefically. Their role is to support. 4. Other planets having sight on (aspecting) these Secondary Upachaya Lords CAN give malefic effects. 5. EACH individual aspect is counted when we name the planets that are aspecting houses A, B, and C and the aspects to the other planets - In other words - If Jupiter aspects TWO main upachaya houses and has an ashtakavarga value of 5 points, a total of a minus 10 points must be factored in to the calculations. ~Namaste~ Sandy > Sandy, > Glad to hear I am not the only one who is often in the dark with parts of > explanations. I also think you're right regarding the language barrier too. > English can be such an ambiguous language. For example where Krushna said > sign and constellation the " and " could be taken to mean " as well as " in > which case it could mean " or " - which I think it probably does. Even reading > that sentance I have just written doesn't make complete sense!. > Personally I think that both Krushna and Sach do a marvellous job with their > English - I know many people who were born in England and don't do so well. > By the way did I ever tell you the story of the Frenchman who had studied > English for ten years before finall deciding to try out his prowess. Thanks Doc...Great idea! (MORE good medicine from our resident Doc.;-)) And one more point that I forgot to mention, that I had previously asked Krushna a while back for clarification on concerning the Main and Secondary Upachaya Lords is this: 1. When a planet lords BOTH a Main and Secondary Upachaya House, the Secondary Upachaya Lord takes precedence over the Main, when factoring in the planets effects. ~Namaste~ Sandy

Guest guest
Dear Peter, > 1. When a planet lords BOTH a Main and Secondary Upachaya House, the > Secondary Upachaya Lord takes precedence over the Main, when factoring in > the planets effects. > > ~Namaste~ > Sandy > Sandy, > I'm not quite sure what the above statement means could you explain further. > Peter Sure...I'll give you an example to help clarify this. In the Event of Marriage, say we have Virgo rising. The Main Upachaya Houses (2nd, 7th and 11th from Virgo) would be ruled by Venus, Jupiter and the Moon, while the Secondary Upachaya Houses (4 and 12) are ruled by Jupiter and the Sun. So in this case we have the planet Jupiter as Lord of BOTH a Main and Secondary Upachaya House. Now because different " laws " govern these two houses, we would use the laws that apply to the Secondary Upachaya Lords and not factor into consideration any malefic effects for the planet Jupiter, because even though it is a Main Upachaya Lord, it is ALSO a Secondary Upachaya Lord, and the Secondary Upachaya Lords always take precedence (when figuring their values into the worksheet) over the Main Upachaya Lords. So, in essence, Jupiter will contribute no malefic effects if it aspects Houses A, B, or C or other planets. Hope this helps to clarify the statement above. ~Namaste~ Sandy
Guest guest
Thanks Sandy, I thought that was what you had said earlier. Basically anyway it boils down to the fact that if a planet is the lord of a secondary upchaya house it cannot do harm to the main significators and in the worksheet although it can cause points to be added to other planets it cannot cause any to be taken away.
