Dear Michael,

I think that the point that Maharaj is making is that if we identify

ourselves with our bodies and minds we see ourselves and other

people as doers of things. Then immediately we judge what they do as

right or wrong, according our concepts. That is why they say

that " distiction between right and worng, good and evil is the

sickness of human mind... "

When they asked Maharaj what would " he " do if someone attaked him,

he replied, " I don't know. " His body may fight or his body may

flight or freeze or just sit and pray. In my opinion, once you

investigate who is this " I " that seems to do heroic or cowardly acts

your understand that there is no doer, things are just happenings

and there is no " you " to do right or wrong - no " ego " in me and

no " ego " in others and you can stop judging yourself and others

according to your ego's preferences.

Respectfully in Ramana,

Mila

the apparent actions of a " mentsh " , a fully integrated

human being, like maharaj, are such only in the view

of identifying observers. since a sage is devoid of

feeling of identity or doership, what appears as his/her

act is a natual reality's response, arising according to

time, place, and the need.

any evaluations or judgements of such acts are merely

reflexions of the observer's illusory identifications and

self image.
