Guest guest
From The Bryhadaranyaka Upanishad The questioner asks, " Tell me about the Self, Brahman, which is visible, not invisible, the Self within all. " The Sage Yajnavalkya replies, " This is your own Self, which is within all that exists. " The questioner asks, " Which Self is it that is within all? " The Sage replies, " He who breathes vitality in is the Self within all. He who breathes vitality out is the Self within all. He who delays the breath is the Self within all. This is entirely the Self within all. " The questioner says, " One might say that you have explained that " this " is a cow or a horse. But tell me about the Self that is visible, not invisible, the Self or Brahman within all. " The Sage replies, " This, your very Self, is within all. " The questioner persists, " But what is the Self that is within all? " The Sage replies, " You cannot see the eye of the eye, the ear of the ear, or the perceiver of perception—or know the knower of knowledge. That is your true Self, as it were inside or behind everything. It also includes everything you may consider undesirable, evil, or mistaken. " After that the questioner held his peace. ------------------------ Not two, Richard
