Guest guest
Ever try to explain to a fellow dream-mate (brother/sister)... who has no direct recollection or current experience that the world is a dream? I did, the other night. What a stupid Fool I am. I need to learn how to zip my fat mouth.
Guest guest
Dear David, Although we sometimes use the term " dream world " to make a point, in fact, it must be only Reality manifesting at all times. The term " dream world " only has meaning in reference to the " Awake State " . Without this contrast the term " dream world " cannot be understood. However, this contrast between the " dream world " and the " Awake State " happens necessarily in the dream state. Therefore, the paradox of telling someone that the " world is a dream " should be obvious. Due to the assumption of one dream character giving another dream character advice makes room for some good dream humor! :-). We need that! Sri Ramana used to remind devotees that Advaita says: 1. World is Unreal 2. Brahman Alone is Real 3. World is Brahman Advaita essentially teaches us that All that we see is Brahman. Brahman is the Self. How do we get there to this knowledge that Brahman is our innermost Self? For that there are many ways and paths according to one's inclinations. The best path for everyone is that which is natural for that person. For Mahatma Gandhi, his path was that of service to humanity. He did it to the best of his ability and offered his life as an experiment with truth and as a gift. He did not feel the need to say that world is real or unreal. He knew what he had to do and he did it in the best way he knew how. Mahatma Gandhi acted according to his nature. To live life according to our nature, that is all anyone of us can do. We cannot live the life of Sri Ramana. He had to do that. We can live the life of Mother Theresa. She had to do that. We cannot live the life of Mahtama Gandhi. He had to do that. When Arjuna refuses to fight, Krishna says to Arjuna, " Your very nature will compel you to fight. " Krishna was reminding Arjuna that one must understand one's natural dharma, the duty one has taken upon. Self-Realization is referred to as the Natural State. Sahaj means easy and natural. Sahaj Samadhi is that state of being Awake which is spontaneous, easy, and natural. It cannot be acquired as it is our very own nature. So the terms such as the " dream world " etc., only have relative meaning and are used to make certain points. It is not necessary to take any concept too seriously. Our natural state is free from concepts and therefore concepts cannot be used to explain it. It can only be indicated. It is up to each to see with their own Eye that the I within is Brahman. Namaste and love to all Harsha David wrote: > Ever try to explain to a fellow dream-mate (brother/sister)... who has > no direct recollection or current experience that > > the world is a dream? > > > I did, the other night. > > What a stupid Fool I am. > > I need to learn how to zip my fat mouth. > > > >
