Shivaji Rao IN RECOGNITION: Swami (Devi) Vasantananda, president of Lokashema Trust, presenting the “Sanyasa Ratna” award to Swami Dayananda Saraswati, president, Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Coimbatore, in Chennai on Sunday. CHENNAI: Several spiritual personalities propagated the concept of “Advaita Vedanta” for spiritual renaissance of the country, Swami (Devi) Vasantananda, president, Lokashema Trust, said on Sunday. Emphasising the relevance of “Advaita Vedanta,” she listed a number of spiritual personalities including her master Swami Sivananda Saraswati of Rishikesh and Chandrasekarendra Saraswati of Kancheepuram who contributed to the propagation of the concept, which was required to counter ills of materialism. She presented the “Sanyasa Ratna” award instituted by the Trust to Swami Dayananda Saraswati, president of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Coimbatore. She described the recipient of the award as a “true torchbearer of Advaita Vedanta.” The award carried a citation, a memento and a cash prize of Rs. 25,000. Swami Dayananda Saraswati said the pursuit of knowledge and adherence to ‘ahimsa’ characterised the life of a sanyasi. I just went to 3 satsangs with a teacher called Adyashanti. He visted here in Australia for 3 weeks. Such a blessing.
