Guest guest
Dear Group, One more week until we leave. One thing I notice is just how many 'possessions' had burdened us. My wife anb I spent several weeks clearing out our house, disposing of each item - give to one of our kids? Put into storage? Sell? If so, how, to or though whom, and 'do the needful.' Give away to friends or Goodwill? Discard? Even now, at the temple we have more than we need now or in India. We have been going through the remaining items - planning what to pack, what to wear at the retreat, giving away more things, selling some more things (Carol's gold jewelry, etc.) Dealing with the remained of our material objectd takes much time, and prevents to some extent our ability to relax and fully take advantage of living at the temple. We will have all this done by Wed, when the retreat starts. We have to make each day one where we can focus on inquiry and realization of the Self. That is the direction of our lives. It is clear from these last weeks how much is the distraction from the material objects that make up Western life. My desire is to be consumed by the fire of Siva-Consciousness, not weighed down by some set of objects on which I proejct some imagined significance. Not two, Richard
