Jill, Gabriele, Gloria, Vicki, too many to mention. They could answer your question. I don't know if a Ramana devotee would say that one gender is closer to enlightenment than another. In the Hindu religion, the male and the female principle is always shown together to symbolize completion. Shiva and Parvati. Rama and Sita, Krishna and Radha. In the relative world, it seems that both the male principle and the female principle are necessary for the evolution of the world. Not sure how one could assert the superiority of one principle over the other. Both support each other. I do remember talking to this one well known professor about 10 years ago and he was telling me about his girlfriend and how much he learned from her and he kept saying again and again that she was much more advanced and enlightened than him. So in that one case, it certainly seemed true that his girlfriend was more enlightened and this man was grateful for that. Namaste and love to all Harsha
Guest guest
Both men and women have equal potential to attain "Moksha" or liberation. Enlightenment is a side effect of Moksha. Having said that, the statistics shows the men in a better light. Take any part of the world, any religion and men greatly outnumber women, in saint-hood or enlightenment or Gurudom. May be the social circumstances are against the women. I read it from a student of the Ramana Maharshi lineage. Just wondering if anyone on board here would know. Now you can chat without downloading messenger. Click here to know how. Guest guest
I am grateful for both replies to my message and look forward to participating in this group (my only Ramana Maharshi board). It will be interesting to hear more from the women you mentioned. When you said they were part of the Sangha, did you mean this online one, or the group at large? , Harsha wrote: > > irrazione wrote: > > (first post on this forum, thanks for allowing me to lurk) > > > > Is there anyone here who is familiar with the precept that women are > > closer to enlightenment than men, generally? Guest guest
They are all part of this online sangha and, of course, the group at large, the cosmic sangha. Going again to the issue of Gender and Enlightenment, Sri Ramana never taught that one gender is closer to enlightenment than another. I can't see how a devotee of Sri Ramana could every buy into an idea like that. But what do I know? The world is a mysterious place. Guest guest
Sneaking off a few words at work: The mind takes a good hold of the closer and the further. Hang on to the comfort zone, or what to do when the wind does not blow in the right direction. This concept has taken such a turn it has been reset to: In enlightenment! Here is the beginning and the end, no distance between. Who is present? With continued observance of idendity, a balance coming through (each loss of sunny days ). Find if there's a choice of two. All by itself this way Love is thriving How dead serious it is, the cosmic dance at play. : ) Alan 'Thriving' from Old Norse reflexive of thrîfa to grasp , " harshaimtm " wrote: > > They are all part of this online sangha and, of course, the group at > large, the cosmic sangha. > > Going again to the issue of Gender and Enlightenment, Sri Ramana never > taught that one gender is closer to enlightenment than another.
