Guest guest
Dear Group, Today is Sunday. One last day of the retreat, then off to India late Monday night. When we come to Tiruvannamalai, we will be in the maelstrom of Deepam. We will stay somewhere arranged by a friend. Deepam is next Saturday. One week after Deepam, we will take occupancy of the small house outside Tiruvannamalai that seems to be provided by Ramana's grace. Then the next phase of our life will really begin. Spiritually I want to see if each day can be approached like 'this is the day for Self-realization.' This kind of approach is what seems best. Guest guest
Hi Richard, Its great to know that you are taking such a big step in your life. For Indians to take such a step (which in your case is called Vanaprastha Ashram), is not a big deal. But for somebody from such a far-off place to switch to this stage of life is really a great act of renunciation. Once I came across a saying of some Swamiji. He said that "it is not we (the Sannyasis) who are the renunciates. It is the people immersed in the pleasures of the world who are the real renunciates. They have given up the Infinite glory of the kingdom within, and are holding onto the pain-filled world". You are moving to Tiruvannamalai at a very auspicious time. It is the time of Karthik Deepam. Circumambulating around Arunachala in the night, when the Deepam (flame) is in full and chanting "Om Namah Shivaya", is really a great spiritual experience.Om Tat Sat Why delete messages?
