Guest guest
Dear Group, Today is Deepam. From early in the day, hundreds of thousands of people stream around Arunachala. tonight will be the lighting of the lamp at the top of Arunachala. We can see through binoculars thousands of people climbing up Arunachala, bringing ghee for the lamp tonight. We went up to Skandanasram this morning. Even with all the people making pilgrimage there, there was still a profound silence in Skandanasram. From this vantage point we also could see some of the people, winding their way up the mountain. Most climbing the mountain and doing pradakshina were barefoot. We had shoes, after making the walk to Skandanasrmam barefoot three years ago and bruising the bottoms of our feet severely. Yesterday we drove the three k out of town to see the house we will occupy, Brindavanam, in Annai Pirandham village. Drive down a small paved road, come to the village school, turn right before the school down a small dirt lane. When we came to the house, the grounds were so much more beautiful than we had thought. And from the roof, a clear wide view of Arunachala. Looking the other way, one sees rice fields, etc. There are two houses we can see from Brindavanam. When we were on the grounds there was a village woman with three cows, grazing on the weeds. She smiled broadly at my wife, and brought her two roses picked from the grounds. We were so taken with the grounds and the view that we forgot to even look in the window to see what the interior of the house was like. I guess we move in this house in another week. We have been to Ramanasramam several times. right now, very busy, many people visit during Deepam. Not two, Richard
