Guest guest
Dear Group, At 6 PM, Saturday, Nov. 24, the light was light on top of Arunachala. At the same time, lights were light in Arunachalaswara, Sri Ramanasramam and other places. Shortly after this, the sky exploded with fireworks, and people in the neighborhoods had their own fireworks, so many flares, big bangs, rockets, etc. I asked our host if sometimes there were fires started in the thatched roofs. He said 'often,' the fired the next set of bottle-rockets into the air. Many of the homes were then light with small oil lamps, placed every few feet on walls, roofs, entrances, etc. to make a gentle lighting of the neighborhood. The fireworks went on for hours. The light on top of Arunachala, I am told, will be light for days. This is why they army of people carried pots of ghee up to the peak all day yesterday, to bring enough oil to keep the lamp burning. Today the town is less busy, but still quite active with the estimated 1,000,000 visitors finishing up and going home. I loaded a new file today for your listening.
