Guest guest
Dear Group, Today started with a walk up Arunachala to Skandanasram. Today we arrived when the priest (or monk?) opened it up. He is dress in an orange cloth, draped round his body. For the first time in this stay we heard his chanting. After he opens the building, he enters in inner cave, where the Ramana picture is, lights a lamp, and chants. The voice is deep and resonant. The resounance resounds in the cave. It is most beautiful and fills my wife and I with peace. During and after the chant we meditated (inquired) for a while as people came and went. Such peace! When we got out of the building we saw many monkeys; some that were just babies, hardly more than a hand-full in size. Even these would leap from the roof to the nearby trees. One of the attendents at Skandanasram had brought up coconuts, and was cutting out pieces. The priest started holding our pieces in his hand to the young monkeys, and threw more pieces to the others. This seemed something that I think I common here, with ones that can caring for other beings in the community. Here it was natural and full of grace. Not two, Richard
