OH! The picture contest at vegetarianteen.com (for teens only) is coming to a

close as well. Check it out!

Your recipe is okay, but it should be adjusted to get rid of the oil and nuts (making it as fat-free as possible), and then find a better contest to enter into, rather than one that apparently condones using animals and animal products. Did you look at some of the other recipies that are entered into the contest? Gross.

Hello all![Please forgive the cross-posting]I rarely post. . .am more of a lurker (thank you all for your amazing recipes!), but am writing to request a favor today. A friend of mine recently submitted a recipe to the 92nd Street Y, for their Mega Bites Challenge. His recipe for Pan-Roasted Potatoes and Onions was selected as one of twenty-five finalists for "fan favorite," and it's deliciously vegetarian. We love to cook for each other --- and of all of the dishes that he's ever prepared for me --- this one is *my* favorite. Please visit this site. . .http://www.92y. org/about/ mail/email. asp?recipient= 143. . .and review the recipe for Pan-Roasted Potatoes and Onions --- and if you're of a mind to, please vote for this recipe as "fan favorite."Thanks,

everyone!~tatiana

But wouldn't it be great for a vegan recipe to win an omni recipe

contest...?

Not really. It's obvious that a vegan recipe is a LOT better than meat-containing ones, making it already a winner in comparison to the horrible recipies it's competing against. A REAL test of the recipe would be entering it into a contest of its peers.--- On Tue, 8/26/08, Alice Leonard <alice wrote:

Trying again - I'm going to put in some line breaks and see

if this helps.

Hi Tatiana! I voted for the recipe. It looks really delicious and

there's nothing wrong with a little fat in your diet. Good Luck.

The objective was not about public outreach. It was about winning

a recipe contest and determining how good a recipe was when

compared to similar vegan recipes, which would be a truer test

if you are evaluating it for prize-winning potential.

Like I said, it would always be a winner when compared to non-

vegan recipes. I like potatoes and onions cooked together, so I

would definitely vote for it!--- On Wed, 8/27/08, genevieve keene <gennyk4u wrote:

no this is exactly what vegan food needs to do, come more into the mainstream so less people have their phobias confirmed. as vegans we need to go for the jugular and show meateaters that our food is a tasty, ethical alternative. why preach to the converted and hide away in vegan festivals and restaurants?
