Guest guest
Does anyone know what state produces the highest % of organic produce? I would just take a wild guess and say CA. I'd think then that CCOF would really lobby to get more cities/states to do stuff like this. But I guess the issue is lack of $ to lobby with. What a great tie-in to the new poll question... Which restaurants in the bay area do organic foods? I know the Organic Cafe in Oakland (duhh!) Herbivore's & Millenium's say they use it when possible Who else? Tammy Peter L. Cohon [plcohon] Wednesday, October 10, 2001 9:41 AM Berkeley goes organic - sort of For those who missed it, according to today's Chron, Food section, the Berkeley City Council has adopted guidelines encouraging every municipal food program, from kids camps and senior centers to jails, to use organic, locally grown food. Irradiated and genetically modified foods are discouraged. The guidelines are motivated by concerns for health and social justice. However, the policy does not require organic or locally grown foods if they cost more than conventional alternatives. The policy could take as long as ten years to fully implement.
