Guest guest
Lauren just e-mailed me with an update that I couldn't resist sharing... a really YUMMY update: " We will probably have a few copies of " A Cow At My Table " at the video showing. We are also going to have desserts from Sparks (the vegan restaurant in Sonoma County). We will have 2 chocolate cream pies and 2 dozen peanut butter cookies! " If the desserts at Sparks are *anything* like the brunch, I know they will be superb! A few of us trekked up to Sparks for brunch a couple of months ago, and it was really, really good. We were tempted by the dessert list, just too full to try anything else. Having just gone to brunch at Millenium's, I would say the food at Spark's is just as good! If Guerneville wasn't so far for me, I know I would go more frequently. Ever wonder what really goes on behind the walls of the slaughterhouse? Find out on Sunday, November 11th at 8:00pm when two animal rights organizations - Viva! and Animal Rights Direct Action Coalition -- team up to present a special screening of an award-winning feature length documentary about animals, meat, and culture. In " A Cow At My Table, " Canadian director Jennifer Abbott weaves together documentary footage (including disturbing slaughterhouse scenes) and interviews with agribusiness representatives and animal welfare experts to present a complex and disturbing view of the meat industry. Every year in North America, billions of animals are slaughtered for meat, but few people know the true price this process exacts on the environment, human health, and most of all the cows, chickens, and other animals who go under the knife. " A Cow At My Table, " which won the Special Jury Prize at WorldFest Houston and Best Documentary at the New Jersey International Film Festival, takes a deeply compelling and visually stunning look at an issue that affects us all. Admission is $5. Vegan refreshments will be provided. For more information call 415.364.3053. www.ardac.org _______ Get your free @ address at ---------------------------- Tell a friend about !
