Guest guest
When I first became vegan, and looked into B-12 supplements, Twinlab *is* the brand that I trusted. Now it comes to light that the company has neglected to include GELATIN as an ingredient. Just in case anyone has not seen the story, here is the link: http://www.vegsource.com/articles/twinlab.htm Okay... so I am two months behind on my veggie reading... hope I don't find more stories like this. Guest guest
Thanks, Tammy, for the posting about the Twinlab B-12 Dots. Sure enough, that is the brand in my cabinet. Below is the response from the company to my e-mail message regarding getting a refund on the product. Becky Subj: RE: B-12 Dots 11/8/01 9:34:18 AM Pacific Standard Time Product (Product (Twinlab)) To: VeganM ('VeganM') Thank you for your inquiry. The most current label does list all ingredients such as: Mannitol, Sorbitol, Croscarmellose Sodium, Cyanocobalamin, Magnesium Stearate, Silica, Cherry Flavor, Gelatin, Malic Acid and Purified Water. Since the two predominant ingredients; cyano cobalamin and cherry flavoring were listed, the ingredients that are in trace amounts were not listed on the label. We have never labeled this as a vegetarian product. We do understand your complaint and have forwarded your concern to the appropriate department. We are happy to inform you that Twinlab has introduced a new and improved vegetarian formula which contains; Cellulose, Sorbitol, Croscarmellose Sodium, Magnesium Stearate, Silica, Cherry Flavor, Cyanocobalamin and Malic Acid. As we do not sell direct we are unable to offer you a refund. However, as we do value as a consumer we will gladly replace the product for you with the new vegetarian formula. Please send us the label ( proof of purchase) , your street mailing address and phone # to :Twinlab inc 150 Motor Pkwy Hauppauge NY 11778 att Consumer AffairsOnce this information is received your replacement will be shipped via UPS within 3-4 weeks. Good health to you! > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi everyone, Hey, Becky, that is good information, thanks for sharing! I was thinking that perhaps the original retail outlet where purchased could help with a refund or exchange... The retail outlet could then return the product to Twinlabs for a credit. But, of course, if the consumer wanted to consume another Twinlab product, it would be simplest just to do it via Twinlab. I like the labelling that I've seen on " Kal " brand supplements - " KAL GUARANTEES that NO ingredients other than those listed on this label have been added to this product " . I think that's pretty clear. A little " vegan " symbol would be even clearer :-) Vegan Action has information about a Vegan certification program on their website - http://www.veganaction.com/ " The Logo is administered by The Vegan Awareness Foundation, a 501©3 nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about veganism and to assist vegan-friendly businesses. " .... " There is a $120 annual processing fee to cover our expenses in administering the Logo. However, this fee may be waived upon request. " A quick rummage through the freezer and pantry, and I can see it on Now & Zen products...
