Guest guest
FYI - below is the response that I received from WhiteWave, makers of Silk regarding the recent artile about Milk in Silk. Dear Jessica, Thank you for your email regarding the article by Robert Cohen distributed via email. We are aware of this article and would like to offer you a few facts to help address your concerns and to set the record straight: 1) In July, 2000, to protect our consumers, White Wave, in cooperation with the Canadian government, voluntarily recalled approximately 900 cases of Silk Chocolate Soymilk. Out of more than 7,000,000 cases produced that year, we detected trace amounts of dairy protein in one production run. Product shipments in the U.S. were not affected and independent tests confirmed that no dairy was detected in subsequent product runs. 2) White Wave's tolerance for dairy content in Silk soymilk is zero. Each batch of soymilk is analyzed twice with a very sensitive milk protein test to insure that all of our products are free of dairyprotein. 3) We understand that many of our loyal customers drink Silk because they are lactose intolerant or allergic to milk. We are committed to providing a product that is one hundred percent lactose free and dairyfree. 4) There are absolutely no animal ingredients of any kind in Silksoymilk. We understand the importance of this issue to you and we take your trust very seriously. We also recommend that you read VegSource's article entitled, " White Wave: Read Our Opinion " at the following address: http://www.vegsource.com/articles/silk2.htm We hope that the facts have alleviated your concerns and that you will continue to enjoy Silk soymilk. Best regards from the folks at White Wave.
