Guest guest
Dear Friends, Cindy Liang, Anh Le, and I will be hosting a free vegan cooking class tomorrow (Wednesday, November 14th) at the Wild Oats Market in Sunnyvale (1265 S. Mary Avenue, at Fremont), from 6 to 9 pm. The theme for tomorrow's class (part of a monthly series) is Thanksgiving Favorites. We'll be making: tofu turkey, chestnut & soy sausage stuffing, tofu & seitan turkey roast, and pumpkin pie. There will be plenty of food for sampling, so bring your appetites but leave your wallets at home. Everyone is welcome! Included in the recipe sheets (but not demonstrated, due to time considerations) will be: butternut squash with whole wheat, wild rice, and onion stuffing; vegan mashed potatoes with vegan gravy; and traditional (vegan!) thanksgiving stuffing (along with the prescribed large dose of food for thought -- quick fact: did you know that if a seven pound human baby grew at the same rate as today's factory farmed turkeys, at 18 weeks of age, the baby would weigh 1,500 pounds!??! Turkeys have been so altered that they are unable to mount and reproduce naturally, and as a result, all commercial turkeys are products of artificial insemination.).
