Guest guest
Alright, well, Fur Free Friday is the largest anti-fur rally and march of the year. The theme of the event is " Fur Kills, " and it is going to be a big funeral to remember the 40+ million animals killed for " fashion " every year. We'll be meeting (hopefully) at Hallidie Plaza in SF (I should know later today for sure), then having a big funeral procession march to Union Square. Everyone is encouraged to wear black if they want to march with us, so that it looks organized and very funeral-like. During the march, we'll be stopping by every fur-selling store along the route. At the ones that just sell small amounts of fur trim or scarves or such, we'll leave some flowers, but at the major fur-flaunters (like Saks, Neimans, etc.), we'll stop and speak a eulogy for a particular species of animal commonly killed for their skins. Afterwards, we'll leave a headstone in front of the store and move on. After the first part of the march, people are welcome to go back to our initial meeting place for a rally, but we want to have a few people who are willing to continue on an additional march route, which will attempt to stop at every fur-selling store in the area. So, if you're interested in getting involved, you can call or email me any time, or just show up on the day of. I should know a definite location by this afternoon. Again, if you want to march, please wear black, and avoid leather products (wear fabric shoes). The march has nothing to do with leather, but we'll get a lot of people calling is " hypocrites " if we're caught wearing it (or anything that resembles it). That's all I can think of for the moment -- you're welcome to get in touch with me with any questions, comments, etc. It'll be lots of fun! Hope to see everyone down there! And yes, cat, dog and other pet hairs are permitted as long as the animal it came from still has its skin. - Carla Brauer ObscuredDestiny 650-219-8984
Guest guest
> it would be an excellent opportunity for me to > shamelessly promote Fur Free Friday, too. What is Fur Free Friday? Does that mean I have to make sure I'm not covered in cat hair before I leave the house :-) Seriously, maybe an introduction for anyone who isn't aware of this campaign or may have missed your introductory post that touched on this topic. It always seems to make a few minutes of news coverage. What if people are shy and don't want to talk to shoppers, is there an opportunity for them? What time & where should people meet? Will signs and literature be provided for volunteers? So tell us about it, Carla :-) Tammy _______ Get your free @ address at
