Salvage yard owner scraps turkey hunt promotion - AP

Animal rights activists forced salvage yard owner

Glenn McElroy to scrap a holiday sales promotion.

Customers roaming his Pick-Your-Part junk yard won't

be able to chase and catch live turkeys.

So a week before Thanksgiving he is stuck with 320

gobblers.

" This really backfired on me, " McElroy said Wednesday.

" I thought it'd be cute to give my customers live

birds, but it caused a turmoil. Now I've got 320

turkeys. "
