An article by Gore Vidal in the current 12/17 issue of The Nation on the

presidential (s)election 2000, the illegitmacy of " President " Bush, and the

NY Times, mentions the phrase " Vegetarian candidate " . Does anyone know if

any of the major or minor presidential candidates was vegetarian? Vidal may

have meant it as some sort of joke which I wasn't getting, I don't know. I

generally like his politcs, but never cared much for his writing style.

Thanks!---Dan

Dan,

The candidate from the Natural Law Party is a vegetarian. I think his last

name is Hegelin.

Dr. John Hagelin, the Natural Law Party candidate in 2000 (and I think 1996

as well), is also a physicist. I believe he spoke at the annual Animal

Rights Convention in 2000.
