Guest guest
Just wondering about the animal impact of wax. I've been avoiding products that contain beeswax because I've heard that honeymaking is bad for bees, and I assumed that beeswax came from honeybees. Can someone confirm either of these? Someone told me that beeswax isn't bad because the wax comes from abandoned hives. This sounds like a possibility, as bee keepers will make new hives for bees, but I don't really understand the process. I guess it also matters to me what other things the bee keepers do the the bees (for example, if they are killed or starved during honey collection). Aside from that ... do people know what vegan wax alternatives there are? Parafin I guess is as vegan as any petroleum product, but I've heard there are issues with parafin (probably more to do with it being a petroleum product than vegan issues). Anyway, if someone has some info on the animal rights' perspective of wax, I'd love to hear it! Thanks! Jen
