Dear Friends,

I have been reading and watching on the WEB the very lively activity

of the over the past few weeks. Good work!!!

Wish you all happy holidays and a very happy new year! See you in

next year!

A couple of things:

1. Some people exclude meat for better health and others include for

health reasons! Here is what Dalai Lama had to say:

" I am not a vegetarian. In 1965 to 1967, for almost two years ago I

tried to become a strict vegetarian. But because of some liver

problem, hepatitis, I had to resume the meat diet. However, during my

childhood in Tibet, I tried to transform many Tibetan government

festivals into vegetarian festivals.

So, although I am not a vegetarian, but I always try to promote

vegetarianism.I always admire the late Morarji Desai. But I have not

drunk my own urine. I admire his determination and self-discipline "

2. It seems to me more important that people are aware of the facts

how their food took its journey in time to be on their table! If they

are aware of the suffering and torture the " life " undergoes before

getting killed (as quite a few in the contemporary time would deny to

kill an animal themselves to make their dinner), the excessive

consumption of meat would come down.

3. Talking about suffering of life, plants suffer too. They may not

be able to express in a way that we understand it. Think about a

houseplant in a pot and its roots curled, compressed and clotted

together…

4. The means of confrontation brings in visibility and quick results,

whereas contemplation yields permanent changes.

5. Substituting one kind of excessive consumption with another kind

does not help the blue-planet.

Cheers

Murthy
