Guest guest
Center for Informed Food Choices Volunteer Job Announcement: Fundraising Committee Member (3-5 positions available) Mission Statement The Center for Informed Food Choices (CIFC) provides people in the Bay Area with educational tools and reliable resources to make a transition to a plant-based diet. We believe that anyone can obtain optimum health through better nutrition. What makes us unique is our emphasis on the “how-to” aspects of making positive dietary changes. Recognizing that eating is both a personal and political act, we also raise awareness about how government policies and corporations influence our food choices, and advocate for positive policy changes. Fundraising Committee CIFC is forming a standing committee whose purpose is conduct various fundraising activities. Though not a formal board of directors, committee members are expected to be highly motivated and make a commitment for at least one year. Prior fundraising experience is not necessary. If you think fundraising is scary and mysterious, think again. It can actually be a lot of fun. You get to tell people why you’re so passionate about our cause and offer them the opportunity to make a real difference. We will conduct trainings so you know exactly what to do. Even if you would rather not ask people for money, there are many other ways to help out, such as with special events, researching prospects, and various administrative tasks. Skills: Prior fundraising experience is not necessary, as we will provide trainings. Willing to learn, enthusiasm for our cause, good communication skills, and working well with others. Duties: All members are expected to make an annual donation in any amount they can. Other duties include: 1) asking individuals for donations, both from CIFC’s mailing list and from your own contacts, when possible; 2) special event organizing - includes soliciting donations for auctions and dinners; 3) helping with connections to foundations for grant seeking; and 4) offering your own creative ways to raise funds and then implementing them. Commitment: Monthly meetings, including occasional trainings. Average, 5-10 hours per month. Benefits: Developing valuable skills, helping a great cause in a critical way, and getting to work with other dedicated and fun people, just to name a few! How to apply: Contact Michele Simon, CIFC’s director, at (510) 465-0322 to discuss in detail.
