Guest guest
--- RESTAURANTS Marin's cool spot for vegans The newest restaurant to open in Marin takes coolness literally: None of the food is cooked to a temperature higher than 115¡. Roxanne's is all about " living foods, " a concept not new to anyone who ate at Raw Living Foods in San Francisco when it was in business. The idea behind Roxanne's is to use little or no heat, which can alter the chemical makeup of food. If ingredients remain close to their natural state, the theory goes, they are more healthful and easier to digest. But Roxanne's elevates the concept from quirky cafe to fine dining, with an elegantly appointed dining room, fine china and linens, and a wine list developed by master sommelier Larry Stone of Rubicon. The food also carries an upscale price tag - two courses for $25, three courses for $32, and four courses for $39. Roxanne's menu is vegan, which means there is no meat, fish, poultry or dairy. Look for dishes such as wild mushroom pizza with arugula and cashew cheese, udon noodle soup, and yellow curry winter vegetables with whipped parsnips - none of which are hot. . Dinner Tuesday-Sunday. -- Robin Davis http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2002/01/09/FD14078\ 4.DTL & type=food -- I went there last week, I heard that the place is booked every night. I don't know now if they will have repeat business. ===== ---------- The past was good. Today is better. The future can be best of all.
