Guest guest
You know I'll be there (even though I usually don't go to PETA demos). I'm guessing this is just a gathering of demonstrators, and not a march? Maybe we can plan a little march over to ATA. I don't think it's *that* far a walk. - Carla Brauer karrotqueen on AIM: Herbivore 4 Life " You must be the change you want to see in the world. Dear Friends, I'm just forwarding the following note, announcing an animal rights presence at the Olympic Torch event in San Francisco, to protest the rodeo event scheduled to take place during (but not at) the Olympics in Salt Lake City. The protest is being sponsored by PETA (they've been following the Olympic Torch across the country), and is scheduled to begin at 6:15 pm on Friday, January 18th, down at Justin Herman Plaza in SF (Embarcadero at Market). The timing should be perfect so that we can protest at Justin Herman Plaza, and then make our way down to the screening of The Witness. Hope to see many of you there. Cheers, Alka ---------- ----------------------------- The Olympic Torch is coming through San Francisco Friday, January 18th, and activists from PETA will be there to greet Olympic supporters and let them know about the planned Olympic Rodeo. The 2002 Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) is planning to bring animal cruelty into the Olympics! It has scheduled an " Olympic Command Performance Rodeo: North American Challenge " as part of the Olympic Arts Festival. This sorry spectacle of animal abuse is being presented as a contest between the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Canada Professional Rodeo Association, but the animals, who suffer tremendously, will be the real losers. Please join activists Friday at Justin Herman Plaza at the intersection of Market St. and Steuart St. at 6:15 pm. If you cannot attend, please write Olympic organizers and ask them to cancel plans. Please see www.BucktheRodeo.com for more information. Thank you for all that you do for animals. Please call or email Kristie Phelps at Kristiep if you have any questions.
