Howdy folks -

I just joined the group & was wondering if anyone can recommend

resources for someone (me) :) new to macrobiotics (classes,

community, not necessarily books).

I know about the thing on Mon nights in Palo Alto, although I've

never been. Anything more in SF?

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the list! You had asked about macrobiotics classes, community,

etc. - have you explored the Organic Cafe in Oakland? I think they do offer

classes of that type. (The Organic Cafe used to be called the " The

Macrobiotic Cafe " and is sometimes still called that by people like me who

can't remember the name change.) They have a wonderful brunch on the

weekends, too.

Interestingly enough, one of the speakers at this Saturday's VegFair,

Meredith McCarty, has authored a cookbook entitled " American Macrobiotic

Cuisine " . In part, the info on the vegfair website says " She has taught and

lectured internationally since 1977, and is available for private

consultations (see website www.healingcuisine.com or call (415) 381-1735). "

http://www.vegfair.com/Speakers.htm#Speakers-McCarty If you're attending

VegFair on Saturday, maybe she can give you some good insights on local

resources.

Cheers,

Tammy
