Guest guest
Greetings everyone, On behalf of the 2002 Bay Area Veg Fair planning committee, we wish to give a BIG thanks for all of the support from the vegetarian community. You helped us to spread the word about this first-time event, and by all measures, it was a huge success. The final estimate on attendance is 4,000. As we had hoped and prayed and crossed our fingers for 2,000, we doubled our expectations. We're thrilled beyond belief and look forward to our second annual event next year. Our count is based on several methods: clickers at doors, grand prize entry forms, exhibitor feedback, room capacities, and programs/bags displayed and taken. We couldn't be happier, and we realized the tremendous demand for information on a vegetarian diet in the Bay Area. One more thing ... this was an entirely vegan food festival. We had turned away exhibitors (and much-needed funding!) with products including honey and trace amounts of dairy. At times, we questioned whether we were limiting ourselves (for vendors) and if we were making the right decision (several other large-scale vegetarian food festivals are not vegan). In the end, the fair was wildly successful, and we got the vegan message out there to the 4,000 people in attendance. Thanks again for all of your support! If you're interested in helping to plan for or volunteer at next year's event, email us at info. We'd love to have you. Most sincerely, Colleen Holland plus Alka Chandna, Joseph Connelly, Marci Hayden, Stan King, Patricia Lynch, and Ron Schmidt
