I personally think we should finance this project and

have the info available on the internet. Info like

this changes all the time.

Vegetarian on the run

BALTIMORE (AP) - Eating on the road can be rugged

for vegetarians.

Because many common, seemingly vegetarian foods

contain unexpected

ingredients, navigating the fast food market for

animal-free fare can

require more detective work than many people are

willing to invest.

However, the Vegetarian Resource Group, a

clearinghouse of

information about vegetarian and vegan diets, has done

the sleuthing for

you. The booklet also explains what some of the most

common animal

ingredients are.

For their booklet, " Guide to Fast Food, " the group

surveyed chain

restaurants around the country and put together a list

of which menu

items at each contain animal ingredients.

Readers learn, for example, that Arby's sandwich

shops fry their

french fries in the same oil as their chicken and fish

- a practice many

vegetarians would find unacceptable.

They also learn that the dough and sauce at Little

Caesar's Pizza

shops contain no animal ingredients, and that the

biscuits at Popeye's

contain eggs and buttermilk.

The group's guide can be ordered for $4 from: The

Vegetarian Resource

Group, P.O. Box 1463, Baltimore, MD 21203, or online

at:
