Stretching the limits of definitions...

Hello Caity,

Hello Friends,

I think in the so called " exact definition " of vegan

or herbivore, yes, babies and calves are not vegans.

But, it really doesn't matter. Nature has adapted

itself in such a way that the best nourishment for the

offsprings in the immediate vicinity of birth is

mother's milk.

In fact, the reason why in India a Cow is sacred (I do

not practice any religion, so please do not mistake

that I am representing one or other schools of

thought) is because once upon a time occasionally

mothers died during or after delivery due to poor

(medical) conditions. The only nourishment that the

babies could survive on was cow's milk. As a gesture

of thanking the cow -- in such cases took the role of

the mother, they made the cow sacred.

I do take milk-products (class: vegetarian), but in

the recent past reduced them almost to 20% based on

the fact that these cows aren't treated properly and

they are vacuum-sucked to give several Gallons a day.

It used to be different when I was a kid, our cows

gave maximum of two liters (less than a Gallon) a day

and half of it used to be for the calf in the

beginning. My relation and communication with these

cows and calves was very emotional.

As we are parasites in any case, a give-and-take with

cows regarding milk was never a serious issue for me

in those days. But, not any more now.

If people respect what they eat and its source, let it

be a plant or an animal, and don't indulge themselves

in acts like excessive consumption or wastage, then

the world would be in a much better condition.

I am posting this on the general mail of sfbveg also

with the intention that others may also be interested

in this message.

Cheers

Murthy

By respecting the Nature, you respect yourself.

Respecting yourself is the key to joyful life.

Please do respect Nature, which includes others and you too.
