Guest guest
And now for something a bit different ... The DIH collective is a group of vegetarians, although this isn't a vegetarian event (except that, as always, all the food we provide is vegetarian or vegan). The Do-It-Herself Collective presents our *free* Bicycle Repair Bonanza! If you've ever wanted to learn more about how to maintain, upgrade, or repair your bicycle, this is the place to be! Sunday, February 24, 2002 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. @ CELL Space 2050 Bryant Street (between 18th and 19th) Cost: *FREE* (donations appreciated, though!) This event is open to people of all ages, all genders, and all orientations. If you have a bicycle (or more than one!) please bring it to the event so that you can follow along on your own bike. If you have tools, please bring those, too! The event will consist of three workshops plus a work area: Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. (you can pre-register by sending us your contact info to info or by calling (415) 430-2160 ext. 1181). * The big beginning workshop is from 10 to 12 (less comprehensive beginning workshops will go on all day). Beginning covers basic bicycle anatomy and simple but important skills like fixing flats. There will be a short break for lunch from 12 to 12:30. * Intermediate is from 12:30 to 2:30. This will include gear and brake adjustment, truing of wheels, and some cable work. * Advanced is from 2:35 to 4:30 and will cover things like adding deraileurs up to overhauling your bicycle. * Additionally, there will be a work area all day where people can work on their bikes after taking lessons and ask advice of others. This area will also feature periodic mini-beginning workshops all day. Space is limited, so please pre-register by e-mailing us at info@do-it- herself.org or by calling us at (415) 430-2160 ext. 1181.
