Guest guest
Dear Friends, Tomorrow evening (Wednesday, February 20th), from 6 pm until 9 pm, I will be joined by fellow expert vegans, Erhhung Yuan and Anh Le, in offering a free vegan cooking class at the store-formerly-known as Wild Oats, in Sunnyvale (1265 S. Mary Avenue, at Fremont Road). Erhhung will be making two sensational soups from Ken Bergeron's, " Professional Vegetarian Cooking " (Winter Squash Hazelnut Bisque & Mushroom Cashew Creme Soup). Anh will be delighting participants' taste buds with vegan Malaysian rolls (some folks on this list may remember Anh's delectable contribution to a recent potluck at Lizzy & David's place in Alameda). And I will be presenting some of my favorite peasant staples: maple baked beans, vegan cornbread, and wacky chocolate cake. The classes are heavy on taste, humor, and propaganda. And, there's always lots of food for tasting. So, bring your appetites, but leave your wallets at home. Sadly, our classes at the store-formerly-known-as-Wild-Oats-Market may be coming to an end soon. Under the new ownership (Piccadilly Circus), the community space in which our cooking classes have been held for the last several years will be converted into new shelf space. However, we will continue our monthly classes until construction of the new space begins (which our friend, Bruce Byrd, community liaison at Wild Oats/Piccadilly Circus, informs us may be 2 more months). So, seize the opportunity now - if you have friends in the South Bay who may be inclined towards veg*ism, but don't know where to begin, send them over to Mary at Fremont tomorrow night for a crash course in the how/why/what of the glories of plant-based living.
